Mirage begins with a carefully constructed malt bill featuring roasted and crystal malts, producing a deep, dark appearance alongside inviting notes of burnt sugar and sun-dried raisins. The beer is then aged on elderberries and second-use grape skins, introducing layers of concentrated dark fruit and wine-like complexity. Ripe plum flavours take centre stage, complemented by the rich berry character of elderberries and the subtle depth contributed by the grape skins. The combination creates an intriguing flavour profile reminiscent of an oaky sherry, with the darker malt notes providing a rounded foundation for the beer's expressive fruit character.
