Knockout Brewing

Knockout Brewing was founded in 2009 by Joseph McMullan and has developed as a small-scale brewery in Belfast. Production has traditionally centred on relatively small batches of around 900 litres, with the brewery producing a range of bottle-conditioned beers rather than pursuing production on a much larger scale.

Experimentation is an important part of Knockout's approach. The brewery describes itself as constantly exploring new styles, ingredients and finishes while continuing to produce its established beers. That combination of experimentation and repeat brewing forms what Knockout describes as its pursuit of the 'art of brewing'.

The brewery's identity also extends strongly into the presentation of its beers. Knockout uses distinctive and changing can artwork across its range, describing its designs as a reflection of the same pursuit of quality and creativity that influences the brewing itself.

Knockout has periodically opened its Belfast brewery to drinkers through taproom events, with the brewery advertising individual dates rather than a permanently open public bar. These events have provided a way for customers to experience the beers closer to where they are produced while retaining the brewery's primarily production-focused setup.

Today, Knockout continues to operate from Alanbrooke Park in Belfast, producing small-batch beer while experimenting with different flavours, ingredients and brewing approaches. Its combination of bottle-conditioned roots, small-scale production and creative presentation gives the brewery a distinctive identity within Belfast's brewing scene.
