Northbound Brewery

Northbound Brewery was established in 2015 by David and Martina Rogers in the north-west of Northern Ireland. The idea for the brewery developed during almost a decade the couple spent living in Australia, where they became passionate about craft beer and David developed his knowledge and experience of brewing.

David went on to develop that interest professionally, earning the Master Brewer qualification from the Institute of Brewing & Distilling. That brewing knowledge became central to Northbound's identity, with the brewery combining technical understanding with a small-scale, hands-on approach to producing its beers.

From its brewery at Campsie Industrial Estate near Eglinton, Northbound focuses on naturally produced beer using Irish ingredients. Its beers are brewed without artificial additives and are left unpasteurised and unfiltered before being bottled fresh onsite, preserving the character of the beer rather than relying on additional processing.

Northbound's range has traditionally included a variety of bottle-conditioned beers, with many of its beers named in reference to their International Bitterness Unit, or IBU, measurement. This gives the range a distinctive naming convention while reflecting the brewery's interest in the technical details behind flavour and bitterness.

Visitors can also experience the brewery through its brewery tours, providing an opportunity to see where Northbound's beers are produced and learn more about its brewing approach. The tours extend the brewery's emphasis on brewing knowledge beyond production and give drinkers a closer look at the processes behind the finished beer.

Today, Northbound remains rooted in the north-west of Northern Ireland, with David and Martina continuing the brewery they established after returning from Australia. Its combination of Irish ingredients, bottle conditioning, minimal processing and formally trained brewing expertise gives Northbound a clear identity centred on naturally produced, handcrafted beer.
