About Simple Things Fermentations
Simple Things Fermentations was founded in Glasgow's Southside in 2019 by Phil Sisson following years of homebrewing, formal brewing studies and professional brewing experience. Inspired by the belief that great beer comes from doing the fundamentals exceptionally well, the brewery set out to create beers with a genuine sense of place while exploring styles and ingredients often overlooked by the modern craft beer scene.
The brewery's philosophy centres on letting quality ingredients speak for themselves. Traditional brewing methods, natural bottle and can conditioning through re-fermentation, and a commitment to unfiltered, unpasteurised and vegan-friendly beer define every release. Alongside approachable core beers such as its European-hopped Pale Ale and Czech-style Pilsner, Simple Things regularly experiments with lesser-known styles including Wheat Wine, Scottish Light, Peated Pale, Bretted 80/- and Session Stout through its Big Ideas Series.
Despite remaining a two-person operation, Simple Things has built a reputation for thoughtful, style-led brewing rather than following trends. Brewing with Glasgow's exceptionally soft water and focusing on balance, flavour and drinkability, the brewery continues to champion traditional techniques while encouraging drinkers to discover the breadth and diversity of the beer world.
