Independent Breweries
Supporting independent beer
Independent beer is brewed by people who care deeply about flavour, choice and the communities around them. Beer Bible highlights breweries that are known to be independent, including those recognised by the Indie Beer campaign.

How we show independent breweries
Where applicable, brewery pages show an independent beer badge or link. This is intended as a helpful guide for drinkers, not a replacement for the official Indie Beer brewery checker.

Definition
What counts as an independent brewery?
Beer Bible uses the independent brewery definition provided by SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates, through the Indie Beer campaign.
In broad terms, an independent brewery must brew beer for commercial sale, be based in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man, and not be controlled by a larger brewing industry business unless the combined group still falls within the permitted independent scale.
The official definition also includes production limits and ownership rules. For the full wording, use the link to Indie Beer.
