Steep Grade takes its inspiration from the challenging ascent of Cairn O' Mount, just eight miles from the brewery, and the spectacular views across the surrounding Scottish countryside. Brewed to a formidable 14% ABV, this powerful Belgian-style ale is matured in whisky barrels sourced from nearby Fettercairn Distillery, situated at the foot of Cairn O' Mount. The extended barrel ageing introduces additional depth and complexity, bringing together the rich character of a traditional Belgian Quadrupel with the influence of whisky-seasoned oak. Limited to just 500 bottles, Steep Grade is presented in a 750ml wax-dipped bottle housed in a wooden gift box, making it a distinctive collector's release designed for slow appreciation.
