XXX

About this beer

A rich, full-bodied Strong Ale from Devon's Dartmoor Brewery, originally created to celebrate the brewery's thirtieth anniversary and revived by popular demand as a limited-edition release. Previously known as Jail Ale XXX, this distinctive beer showcases traditional British brewing ingredients and a carefully balanced combination of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Pouring a deep amber colour with subtle red hues, XXX opens with inviting aromas of rich malted fruit, bright citrus and orange. The flavour develops with layers of fruity malt character and refreshing citrus notes, complemented by a smooth, slightly sweet caramel finish. A blend of Pale, Crystal and Wheat malts provides the beer's substantial body, rich colour and rounded malt profile. Four traditional hop varieties — Northdown, Challenger, Northern Brewer and Goldings — contribute depth and balance, creating a harmonious interplay between sweetness and bitterness, both rated six out of ten by the brewery. At 6% ABV, XXX delivers a smooth yet robust drinking experience that celebrates Dartmoor Brewery's heritage and commitment to traditional ale production. Returning in limited-edition bottles, this anniversary beer offers a satisfying combination of malty richness, citrus brightness and warming caramel character.
