Penge Fresh Hop 2026

About this beer

A special community-brewed Fresh Hop Ale from Southey Brewing Co in Penge, South East London, celebrating the 2026 local hop harvest and the people who make it possible. Penge Fresh Hop 2026 is the latest expression of the brewery's Big Community Brew, an annual project that brings together hops grown by local residents in their gardens and allotments. Built around the simple idea of 'You grow it, we brew it', the beer transforms the community's freshly harvested hops into a distinctive seasonal release. Each year's harvest produces a different combination of hop varieties and quantities, meaning the recipe is shaped by whatever the neighbourhood has successfully grown. This natural variation gives every edition its own character, making the final beer an expression of the local growing season rather than a fixed hop recipe. At 4.5% ABV, Penge Fresh Hop 2026 offers an approachable way to experience the individuality of fresh hop brewing while celebrating the collective efforts of local growers. Presented in a 440ml can, this seasonal release highlights the connection between independent brewing, neighbourhood participation and locally cultivated ingredients, capturing the spirit of Penge's brewing community in every batch.
