Brewery story

About Buxton Brewery

Buxton Brewery was founded in 2009 when its first experimental brew was produced in a family garage in Buxton. Starting with batches of around 40 litres, the founders refined recipes through extensive research, advice from experienced brewers and plenty of trial and error, quickly developing the knowledge and confidence to pursue commercial brewing.

Within a year, Buxton Brewery had taken the step into professional brewing, initially producing beer at another local microbrewery before installing a second-hand 800-litre brewhouse in January 2010. From those early beginnings, the brewery built a reputation for producing modern hop-forward beers alongside traditional styles, always placing flavour, balance and quality at the centre of every recipe.

As demand continued to grow, the brewery expanded into its current 7,000 square foot home on Staden Lane in Buxton. Brewing on a custom-designed British-built brewhouse capable of producing around 3,500 litres per batch, the team now brews throughout the week, maintaining a core range while regularly releasing seasonal beers, collaborations and limited editions.

Today, Buxton Brewery is recognised as one of the UK's leading independent craft breweries. Combining innovation with meticulous attention to detail, the brewery produces beers ranging from delicate lagers and balanced pale ales to bold imperial stouts and intensely hopped IPAs, all brewed with the aim of creating memorable beers that showcase both craftsmanship and creativity.
