Dark Element Brewing is an independent brewery and taproom based in Caerphilly, South Wales. Launched in 2024 by a team bringing more than a decade of commercial brewing experience, the brewery focuses on modern hop-forward beer, with hazy and aromatic styles forming the heart of its keg and canned range.
Brewery story
Dark Element Brewing launched in Caerphilly in 2024, bringing more than ten years of commercial brewing experience into a new independent brewery in South Wales. The business took over the former Brew Monster premises at Lon-Y-Twyn, establishing both its production brewery and taproom at the site.
From the outset, Dark Element has focused strongly on modern hop-led beer. The brewery describes itself as having a particular passion for hoppy and hazy styles, producing beers designed around expressive hop character, aroma and flavour rather than building its range around more traditional British styles.
Its beers are produced primarily for keg and can, giving Dark Element a clear contemporary craft beer identity. Small-scale production and a focused range allow the brewery to experiment within hop-forward styles while drawing on the team's previous commercial brewing experience.
The Caerphilly site also includes a taproom, creating a direct connection between the brewery and local drinkers. With production and hospitality operating from the same premises, Dark Element has established itself as both a working brewery and a place to drink its beers at source.
Still a relatively young brewery, Dark Element is building its identity around modern South Wales brewing, with hazy, hop-forward beer at the centre of its approach and the Caerphilly brewery and taproom serving as its permanent home.
