Post Mortem: Verbena

An experimental Brettanomyces Pale Ale from Edinburgh's Barney's Beer, part of the brewery's distinctive Post Mortem series. Produced entirely with heritage Chevalier malt, this special release was fermented and aged with Brettanomyces yeast for two years, developing a complex, unconventional character. Following its extended maturation, the beer was dry hopped with fresh Citra and infused with lemon verbena sourced from Summerhall Distillery, the brewery's neighbours at Summerhall. Bottled in June 2025, this vegan-friendly 5% ABV pale ale is bottle conditioned and designed to evolve with age.
