Green Hopped Harvest Porter

About this beer

A distinctive community-brewed Green Hop Porter from East London Brewing Company and the Walthamstow Beer Project, celebrating local collaboration, traditional brewing ingredients and the annual hop harvest. Brewed on 6 September 2026 by 240 members of the Walthamstow Beer Project, this special release uses freshly harvested hops grown, watered and picked by local residents in gardens and allotments throughout Walthamstow, alongside a small contribution of locally foraged wild hops. The freshly gathered hops bring a direct connection to the neighbourhood and its growing community, capturing the seasonal character of the harvest in a traditional dark beer style. Speciality malt from French & Jupps, Britain's oldest maltster, provides the foundation for the porter, bringing together locally grown hops and established British malting heritage. Produced using fresh grain and green hops, the beer reflects the collective efforts of the volunteers who cultivated and harvested its ingredients. At 4.1% ABV, Green Hopped Harvest Porter offers an approachable interpretation of a classic porter, combining community spirit with the distinctive character of fresh hop brewing. Naturally bottle-conditioned and vegan-friendly, this 2026 harvest release is a celebration of Walthamstow's people, gardens and brewing traditions.
