Never Say Death Star

About this beer

An exceptionally powerful Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout from Emperor's Brewery, created in collaboration with the British Bourbon Society to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Never Say Death Star is an ambitious 15.3% ABV release designed to showcase the complexity and character of premium bourbon-seasoned American oak. The beer was transferred into freshly emptied Never Say Die Bourbon barrels just one hour after the bourbon had been removed, maximising the opportunity to capture the distinctive qualities of the spirit and oak. It then underwent an extended fifteen-month maturation, allowing the rich Imperial Stout to develop alongside the complex flavours imparted by the barrels. Brewed without post-fermentation adjunct additions, the beer relies on its substantial malt bill, carefully selected brewing ingredients and prolonged barrel ageing to build its character. Malted barley, flaked oats and wheat malt form the foundation, complemented by Demerara sugar, golden syrup, molasses and root ginger. The resulting beer celebrates the interplay between powerful dark malt richness and the sophisticated influence of bourbon and American oak. At 15.3% ABV, Never Say Death Star is a formidable, contemplative Imperial Stout intended for slow appreciation, offering an intense barrel-aged experience for enthusiasts of bourbon and richly complex dark beers.
