Antur Brew Co is an independent Welsh brewery and taproom based in Crickhowell, Powys. Founded in 2022, its beers take inspiration from the landscapes of the Brecon Beacons, combining German and American brewing influences with a focus on clean, modern and quality-led craft beer.
Brewery story
Antur Brew Co grew from a shared love of craft beer and the outdoors, with its name taken from the Welsh word for 'adventure'. From the beginning, the brewery set out to connect the beer it made with the landscape around it, using landmarks across the Brecon Beacons National Park as inspiration for its branding and label designs while pairing those places with some of the team's favourite beer styles.
The search for a brewery site began in July 2021, and Antur opened its first brewing space at Three Cocks in April 2022. Working on a small-batch scale, the brewery developed a range influenced heavily by German and American brewing traditions, focusing on clean-drinking beer and putting quality ahead of volume. Alongside the core beers, regularly changing specials and collaborations give the team room to experiment and keep the range fresh.
After two years of growth, Antur needed significantly more space and relocated to Crickhowell in January 2024. The move to Brecon House at Elvicta Estates greatly increased fermentation capacity and gave the brewery room to bring production, packaging, a brewery shop and a dedicated taproom together at one site. Beer is canned onsite, while fresh keg beer is also served directly from the brewery.
The Crickhowell taproom has become an important part of Antur's identity. Open for drinking in from Friday through Sunday, it allows visitors to try beer close to where it is produced, pick up cans or fill reusable Growlers from the taps. The space also hosts regular street-food weekends, combining visiting traders with food from Antur's own Hop Hatch trailer, and can accommodate private events for around 70 to 80 people.
Brewing is led by Lance, who returned to the Brecon Beacons after gaining experience at several larger ale and lager breweries and completing additional brewing qualifications. Ben supports the day-to-day production of the brewery during the week before turning his attention to street food for the taproom, helping connect the brewing and hospitality sides of the business.
Today, Antur presents itself as a proudly Welsh and independent brewery rooted in the landscape around Crickhowell and the wider Brecon Beacons. Its combination of modern craft beer, outdoor inspiration and an onsite taproom gives visitors a direct connection between the places depicted on the cans, the beers themselves and the area in which they are made.
