Bishop Nick is an independent family brewery founded by Nelion Ridley in 2011, continuing a brewing tradition that stretches back six generations. Based in Braintree, Essex, the brewery produces distinctive real ales using local ingredients and traditional brewing methods.

Bishop Nick was established by Nelion Ridley in Felsted, Essex, in 2011, continuing his family's brewing heritage after the sale of Ridley's Brewery in 2005.
The Ridley family's brewing history dates to 1842, when Thomas Dixon Ridley established a brewery on the River Chelmer. Six generations of the family subsequently brewed in Essex for more than 160 years.
Bishop Nick expanded into its Braintree brewery in 2013, where it continues the family's traditional approach while producing real ales for modern drinkers.
The brewery takes its name from Nicholas Ridley, the sixteenth-century Bishop of London and an ancestor of the Ridley family.
