Docks Beers is an independent craft brewery based in a converted Edwardian church close to Grimsby's historic docks. Brewing began at the King Edward Street site in 2018 on a 15-barrel plant, producing an accessible range spanning lagers, traditional ales and hop-forward beers. The brewery is also home to a public taproom, brewery tours and the Docks Academy music and comedy venue.
Brewery story
Docks Beers began brewing in Grimsby in 2018, establishing its brewery inside a converted Edwardian church on King Edward Street, close to the town's historic docks. The brewery uses a 15-barrel plant and was developed from the business previously known as Axholme Brewing Co.
The brewery describes itself as proudly independent and firmly rooted in Grimsby. Its aim is to make accessible craft beer while creating products and experiences that celebrate the town and bring people together. Brewing combines traditional methods with modern techniques across lagers, traditional ales and more hop-forward styles.
Hard Graft, Overtime, Knuckle Down and Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Fish form the brewery's core range, alongside experimental seasonal beers and collaborations with other breweries.
The converted church is also home to the Docks Beers taproom, where visitors can drink beer at the brewery and take part in brewery tours. The site has developed beyond brewing, with Docks Academy opening above the brewery in 2020 as a live music, comedy and events venue.
The Docks name expanded further in 2024 with the first DocksFest at the Meridian Showground in Cleethorpes. The 5,000-capacity live music festival brought together the brewery's focus on beer, music and its Grimsby roots.
