Quantock Brewery is a family-run Somerset brewery founded in 2007. Based in Bishops Lydeard, it produces a broad range spanning easy-drinking core beers, highly hopped and stronger styles, seasonal releases and small-batch specials, with an onsite taproom and brewery tours.
Brewery story
Quantock Brewery was founded in December 2007 from Rob's long-standing interest in brewing. A former nuclear head engineer, he began homebrewing in the late 1970s and, dissatisfied with the equipment available, built his own brewing kit. Quantock eventually began commercially in Wellington, Somerset, initially operating with an eight-barrel plant.
As the brewery grew, it outgrew its original premises and moved to Bishops Lydeard, gaining significantly more space for production as well as a brewery shop and taproom. Quantock developed a broad range of beer styles, from traditional and easy-drinking beers to heavily hopped, stronger and experimental small-batch releases, earning more than 100 industry awards.
Further investment followed in 2022 when new partners joined the business and a 30-hectolitre Brew Bloc system was installed, substantially increasing production capacity. Today, Quantock supplies beer across the South West and further afield while its Bishops Lydeard brewery combines production with a busy taproom, events, food vendors and brewery tours.
Taproom & tours
An onsite taproom at the heart of the working brewery, pouring up to 18 craft beers across keg and cask alongside cider, wine, gin and soft drinks. Open Tuesday to Sunday, it regularly hosts street food, live music, comedy and other events.
