Stonehouse Brewery is an independent, family-owned brewery near Oswestry in Shropshire, established in 2007 by Shane and Alison Parr. It produces traditional cask beer alongside modern IPAs, hazy beers, porters, golden ales and craft lager, with its beers brewed, bottled and kegged onsite.
Brewery story
Stonehouse Brewery was established in 2007 by Shane and Alison Parr, with significant help from Alison's parents, Iain and Anne Reid, and her brother Innes Reid. What began as a small family operation has developed into a brewery, distillery and cider maker employing more than 30 people at its rural home near Oswestry.
The brewery has expanded substantially since its early years, constructing a purpose-built, energy-efficient brewhouse in 2013 and progressively increasing production capacity. It can now produce up to 100 brewer's barrels a week, with much of the equipment customised onsite and its own bottling, kegging and carbonation facilities supporting production.
Stonehouse's beer ranges from traditional, easy-drinking cask ales such as flagship Station Bitter to IPAs, hazy beers, porters, golden pales, craft lager and changing seasonal releases. Brewing is currently headed by Kev Harris, supported by Andrew Roberts and Huw Davies, combining established favourites with a regular programme of new beers.
Still family owned, Stonehouse combines production with hospitality at its Shropshire site, which includes a shop, bar and restaurant beside the Cambrian Heritage Railways line. The brewery handles local distribution itself within around 30 miles, maintaining a strong connection with pubs and drinkers across its surrounding area.
