Freedom Brewery

Freedom Brewery was established in 1995 with a focus on producing premium British lager at a time when the category was largely associated with major international brewers. The brewery describes itself as a pioneer of premium British lager, building its identity around independence and an insistence on taking a more considered approach to brewing rather than following the methods of mass-produced lager.

Freedom's brewing philosophy centres on simplicity, patience and the quality of its ingredients. Its lagers are made using 100% British ingredients and are cold matured for six weeks, allowing the beer to develop its carbonation naturally. The brewery's aim is a clean, crisp and bright lager, with the extended maturation period forming an important part of the character of the finished beer.

Traditional lager brewing has remained at the heart of Freedom's identity throughout its history. The brewery specialises in lager rather than producing a conventional range of cask ales, with its approach historically associated with the principles of the German Reinheitsgebot purity law. That focus has allowed Freedom to build its reputation around a single broad family of beer while developing different expressions within it.

Freedom is based at Bagots Park near Abbots Bromley in rural Staffordshire. The setting forms part of the brewery's wider approach to sustainability, with Freedom placing particular emphasis on how water is sourced and how it is returned to the environment.
