Hexhamshire Brewery is a family-run Northumberland brewery established in 1993 at the Dipton Mill Inn near Hexham. Brewery story
The story of Hexhamshire Brewery began in 1989 when the Brooker family took over the Dipton Mill Inn, a traditional country pub in Hexhamshire just south of Hexham. A love of beer and growing interest in the craft of brewing led to plans to produce their own ales using local ingredients, and Hexhamshire Brewery was established in 1993.
Over more than three decades, the family has developed its approach around traditional brewing methods while continuing to refine its recipes and respond to changing tastes. The brewery supplies pubs and other outlets around the region, while its beers remain closely associated with the rural Northumberland setting in which they are produced.
The Brooker family continues to run both Hexhamshire Brewery and the Dipton Mill Inn. The pub serves as the brewery tap, providing a direct outlet for its beers alongside home-cooked food and a wider selection of ales, maintaining the close relationship between the brewery and pub from which the business originally developed.
