Twice Brewed is an independent Northumberland brewery established in 2017 beside Hadrian's Wall. Brewing with water from its own well, it produces a broad range spanning traditional ales, lagers, IPAs, dark beers, sours and gluten-free releases from its purpose-built eco-brewery, with an onsite taproom overlooking the brewhouse.
Brewery story
Twice Brewed began brewing in 2017 in the Northumberland hamlet of the same name, beside Hadrian's Wall and close to the Roman fort of Vindolanda. Its purpose-built eco-brewery draws on the area's long brewing history while using water from its own well and returning brewing by-products to the local environment, including spent malt for cattle feed and hops for the garden.
The brewery started with three fermenters but has expanded significantly as its range and production have grown. Originally focused on more traditional brewing, Twice Brewed now works across a wide variety of styles under its 'there's a beer for everyone' approach, producing everything from cask ale and lager to modern IPA, strong dark beer, wheat beer and sour releases. A number of its beers are also produced as gluten-free versions and independently laboratory tested.
Visitors can drink the brewery's beers at its onsite taproom, where a glass wall provides views directly into the brewhouse and doors open onto a beer garden patio. Twice Brewed has also developed a substantial record of competition success, collecting regional, national and international awards across a broad range of styles since its early years.
