Lizard Ales is an independent Cornish brewery founded in 2004 on the Lizard Peninsula, Britain's most southerly point. Brewing from a unique former RAF bunker near Coverack, the brewery produces traditional cask and bottle-conditioned ales using quality British ingredients, celebrating Cornwall's landscapes, history and brewing heritage in every pint.
Brewery story
Lizard Ales was founded in 2004 in the Cornish village of St Keverne with the aim of producing traditional real ales inspired by the character and heritage of the Lizard Peninsula. From the beginning, the brewery focused on quality ingredients, bottle-conditioned beers and classic British brewing techniques.
The brewery later relocated to one of the most distinctive brewing sites in the country — a former RAF Treleaver nuclear bunker near Coverack. Hidden beneath the Cornish countryside, the unique location provides an unusual home for a brewery dedicated to producing authentic Cornish ales.
Lizard Ales specialises in traditional cask and bottled beers, with a core range that reflects the landscapes, history and folklore of Cornwall. From classic bitters to golden ales and stronger seasonal brews, each beer is crafted with an emphasis on balance, drinkability and regional character.
Today, Lizard Ales supplies pubs and independent retailers throughout Cornwall while remaining proudly independent. More than two decades after its founding, the brewery continues to showcase traditional Cornish brewing from Britain's most southerly brewery.
