Independent Maldon brewery established in 1996. Mighty Oak produces more than 5,000 hectolitres of beer a year and supplies around 450 outlets across East Anglia and the South East, with beer also available directly from its brewery shop and Maldon taproom.
Brewery story
Mighty Oak has been part of the Essex brewing landscape since 1996. Based at West Station Yard in Maldon, the brewery has grown from its beginnings into a substantial independent operation while retaining strong links with the pubs and drinkers of East Anglia and the South East.
Production has grown to more than 5,000 hectolitres of beer each year, with Mighty Oak supplying around 450 outlets across the region. That reach has made its beers a familiar sight well beyond Maldon, while the brewery's focus on supplying pubs directly keeps it closely connected to the traditional independent beer trade.
Mighty Oak's home in Maldon remains central to the business. Its brewery shop at West Station Yard gives customers the opportunity to buy beer directly from the source during office hours, rather than only encountering the brewery through pubs and other stockists.
The brewery also has a longstanding social side. A popular festive beer-tasting day takes place in early December, bringing people to the brewery to sample its beers as Christmas approaches. Away from the production site, the Mighty Oak Tap Room at the upper end of Maldon High Street provides another direct connection between the brewery and its home town.
After three decades of brewing, Mighty Oak combines the scale needed to supply hundreds of pubs with the character of a local independent brewery. From its Maldon brewhouse and shop to its town-centre taproom, the business has built its identity around getting locally brewed beer into both the region's pubs and the hands of drinkers close to home.
