Brewery story
Neptune Brewery was founded in 2015 by husband-and-wife team Les and Julie, growing from Les's interest in home brewing into a family-run independent brewery. Originally based in Maghull, Neptune developed a broad range of beers whose names often draw inspiration from the sea, fish and mythology.
The brewery produces a core range alongside an ever-changing selection of seasonal beers, rarities and collaborations across cask, keg and cans. All of Neptune's beers are unfined and made without animal-derived ingredients, while natural conditioning is used across every format rather than adding carbon dioxide to carbonate the finished beer.
Growth eventually took Neptune beyond its original Maghull brewery, with production moving to larger premises on the outskirts of Liverpool in 2023. Despite that expansion, the business remains family-run and fully independent, with Les and Julie continuing to operate it without outside investors.
Neptune retained a strong connection with Maghull through the opening of the Neptune Beerhouse in 2023. With four cask and eight keg lines, the venue provides a permanent home for Neptune beer alongside drinks from other local and independent producers, while regular food, quizzes and community events make it a neighbourhood drinking space as well as a showcase for the brewery.
