Independent brewery near Dunfermline producing malt-forward beers with an emphasis on flavour, body and locally grown barley.
Brewery story
The idea for SaltRock Brewing began in 2018 from a desire to make malt-forward beers that celebrated flavour and body. After two years of recipe development and establishing the brewery, its first beers were released in May 2021.
Based at Lochend Farm near Dunfermline, SaltRock uses locally grown barley where possible and produces traditionally influenced beers, with its bottled range naturally carbonated through bottle conditioning.
The name combines 'Saltire' and 'Shamrock', reflecting the founder's Irish upbringing and later home in Scotland, while also representing the brewery's focus on flavour and substance.
SaltRock quickly gained recognition, with Red Wagon winning gold at the Scottish SIBA Independent Beer Awards in 2021 before taking national gold in its category in 2022. The brewery expanded into keg beer in 2025.
