Independent Derbyshire brewery founded in 2012, originally brewing from the beer garden of Derby's Furnace Inn before moving to a larger site in Little Eaton. Shiny produces a wide range of unfined, unfiltered and vegan-friendly beers for cask, keg and can, with its brewery home also featuring the Shiny Tap.
Brewery story
Shiny began in 2012 in an unlikely spot: a small six-barrel brewery in the beer garden of The Furnace Inn in Derby. Founder Pedro brewed the first Shiny beer there, a 3.9% pale ale called Launchpad, initially producing beer for the pub before awards and growing demand began taking Shiny further afield.
By 2015 the brewery had outgrown its original home and moved to a 5,000-square-foot site in Little Eaton. Investment in a larger brewing operation allowed Shiny to increase production while developing the brewery into a destination of its own, complete with the Shiny Tap.
Today Shiny's beers travel nationwide in cask, keg and cans, but the brewery remains rooted in Derbyshire. Its range is unfined and unfiltered, vegan-friendly, with some beers certified gluten-free, while The Furnace Inn remains part of the Shiny story as the place where the brewery began.
Sustainability has also become an important part of the brewery's approach. Shiny runs on 100% renewable electricity, sends spent grain to a local farmer, composts used hops, reuses water where possible and uses recyclable cans made with recycled material.
