Weekend Project

Weekend Project Brewing Co was created as a passion project by James Roberts, owner of Mobberley Brewhouse, with the aim of producing ambitious, full-flavoured modern craft beer. The first Weekend Project beers appeared in 2022, with a particular focus on IPAs, pale ales and stouts.

The project initially took a back seat while the wider Mobberley Brewhouse business went through a major period of change, before being reinvigorated in 2024. Will France joined the team as Brand Manager, bringing previous experience with breweries including Stone, Cloudwater and Firestone Walker, and helped relaunch the range with new beers appearing from July that year.

Weekend Project operates as a nomadic brewing brand, using the brewing facilities of Mobberley Brewhouse as well as other brewery plants when required. Its beers are generally modern, flavour-forward releases, with keg playing an important role in the range and an emphasis on producing stronger craft styles.

The brewery's current identity is particularly closely associated with soft, hazy and low-bitterness beer. Meadows became an early benchmark for the relaunched project, with the team aiming for a pillowy, saturated and highly drinkable character. Other beers, including Island Hopper, have continued that focus on expressive but approachable modern pale ales.

Beer names are loosely inspired by weekend activities, reflecting the informal character behind the brand. While hazy pale ales and IPAs currently form a significant part of Weekend Project's output, the team has also expressed an interest in exploring a wider range of styles and eventually creating a rural destination taproom inspired by some of the best brewery venues in the United States.
