Description

Big Drop Brewing Co. is an independent alcohol-free beer company founded in Suffolk in 2016, specialising exclusively in beers of no more than 0.5% ABV. Rather than operating a traditional production brewery, Big Drop works with brewing partners to produce a diverse range of alcohol-free craft beers, from pale ales and IPAs to lagers and stouts. Its approach focuses on brewing full-flavoured beer to a naturally low strength rather than removing the alcohol after fermentation.

Brewery story

About Big Drop Brewing Co

Big Drop Brewing Co. was founded in 2016 by City lawyer Rob Fink and his school friend, designer and entrepreneur James Kindred. The idea emerged after lifestyle changes, including fatherhood, led them to explore alcohol-free beer and identify a lack of flavourful alternatives to traditional full-strength craft beer.

Working with experimental brewer Johnny Clayton, formerly of Wild Beer Co, Big Drop developed an approach to brewing beer at no more than 0.5% ABV without artificially removing the alcohol afterwards. The first release was a 0.5% ABV Milk Stout in November 2016, followed by a Pale Ale and an expanding range of alcohol-free beer styles.

Rather than relying solely on barley, Big Drop uses a broad selection of grains including barley, rye, wheat and oats. More than twenty speciality grains are used across its range, helping the brewery create different flavour and aroma profiles while maintaining the low alcoholic strength that defines every Big Drop beer.

Big Drop has operated differently from a conventional brewery, using brewing partners to produce its beers rather than being tied to a single production site. This approach has supported the brand's expansion beyond the UK while allowing it to remain focused exclusively on developing alcohol-free beer.

Since launching, Big Drop has received numerous awards for its alcohol-free beers, including recognition at the World Beer Awards, World Beer Cup, International Beer Challenge and Society of Independent Brewers awards. Its beers have also expanded into supermarkets, hospitality venues and international markets, helping establish Big Drop as one of the best-known names in modern British alcohol-free brewing.
