Brew Toon is an independent brewery based in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. Established in 2017, it produces bold, small-batch craft beers with a strong focus on flavour, character and local provenance. The brewery is based on a historic brewing site once home to Hunter & Sons' Tanfield Brewery and also operates an onsite Bottle Shop & Tasting Room.
Brewery story
Brew Toon was established in May 2017 in Peterhead, on the north-east coast of Scotland.
The brewery was created with a focus on bold, adventurous craft beer produced in small batches, combining modern brewing ideas with a strong connection to its local surroundings.
Its home in Peterhead carries its own brewing heritage. The site was previously occupied by Hunter & Sons' Tanfield Brewery, a history that Brew Toon says continues to influence the way it approaches brewing today.
Local provenance is an important part of Brew Toon's identity, with the brewery aiming to use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible while producing beers designed to be full of flavour and character.
Since opening, Brew Toon has built a varied range of beers spanning multiple styles, alongside seasonal and limited releases produced at its Peterhead brewery.
The brewery also operates an onsite Bottle Shop & Tasting Room, giving visitors the chance to drink Brew Toon beer close to where it is made.
The tasting room usually offers a rotating selection of four Brew Toon beers on draught, alongside a fridge stocked with the brewery's wider packaged range.
Guest beers from breweries around the UK are also available, together with wine, prosecco and locally produced spirits.
Today Brew Toon combines small-batch production with its public tasting room and bottle shop, while maintaining a strong connection to Peterhead's local brewing history.
