Brewery story
About Brixton Brewery
Brixton Brewery was founded in 2013 by Jez and Libby Galaun, and Mike Ross and Xochitl Benjamin, four friends who met by chance in a Brixton bar and discovered a shared passion for great beer and the vibrant energy of South London. Inspired by the creativity and diversity of their neighbourhood, they set out to create a brewery that would put Brixton firmly on the map for outstanding beer.
The brewery began life in a railway arch on Brixton Station Road, brewing on a modest 10-hectolitre kit and delivering much of its beer on foot around Brixton Market. As demand grew, the team expanded into neighbouring arches, built a loyal local following, and developed a reputation for producing approachable, flavour-forward beers inspired by the character of Brixton itself.
A partnership with Heineken in 2017 enabled Brixton Brewery to build a larger purpose-built brewery while retaining its original railway arch as a taproom and experimental brewing space. Today, the brewery's beers are enjoyed across the UK, but its identity remains firmly rooted in the neighbourhood that inspired it, continuing to celebrate the creativity, diversity, and community spirit that define Brixton.
