Brewery story

About Anspach & Hobday

Anspach & Hobday's story began in 2013 beneath the railway arches of Bermondsey's famous Beer Mile, where founders Paul Anspach and Jack Hobday set out to create beers inspired by British brewing heritage while embracing the creativity of the modern craft beer movement. Brewing from a small arch on Druid Street, the brewery quickly earned a reputation for producing balanced, characterful beers that celebrated traditional styles with a contemporary touch.

As demand for their beers grew, so did the need for a larger home. In March 2020, Anspach & Hobday expanded production to a purpose-built brewery in Croydon, increasing brewing capacity threefold while retaining their original Bermondsey taproom and roots. The move marked a significant milestone, allowing the brewery to reach more drinkers without compromising the quality and independence that defined its early years.

Today, Anspach & Hobday proudly embraces the motto "Bermondsey Born. Made in Croydon." It reflects a brewery that remains deeply connected to its South London origins while continuing to grow, innovate, and champion great British beer for a new generation.
