Brewery story
Eight Arch Brewing Co was established in 2014 in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, bringing commercial brewing back to the town after an absence of almost 80 years. The brewery takes its name from the eight distinctive arches of Julian's Bridge, a historic local landmark crossing the River Stour. Beginning with a five-barrel brewing system on an industrial estate just outside the town centre, Eight Arch set out to produce flavourful, carefully crafted beers that combined traditional British brewing influences with the growing enthusiasm for modern craft styles.
The brewery quickly developed a reputation for hop-forward pale ales and IPAs, alongside darker, roasted beers and traditional favourites. Its early success was built around a commitment to high-quality ingredients, careful production and consistent flavour. Corbel, one of the brewery's original beers, became a national gold award winner, while Square Logic established itself as another standout. The brewery's achievements include winning Overall National Small Pack Champion at the 2020 SIBA awards and South West Cask Champion in 2023, recognition that helped establish Eight Arch beyond its Dorset home.
As demand increased, Eight Arch expanded its original five-barrel operation to a ten-barrel brewhouse in 2021. Further growth followed in 2024, when the brewery moved into larger premises across the road from its previous site. The move provided space for additional fermentation capacity, improved packaging facilities and an onsite taproom. Eight Arch now brews on a 20-hectolitre system and has developed from a one-person operation into a small team. Despite its growth, the brewery continues to deliver directly to local pubs, bars and shops, maintaining close relationships with its customers.
Today, Eight Arch combines its established core range with seasonal releases, collaborations and experiments with new ingredients and brewing techniques. Its taproom in Wimborne welcomes visitors on Fridays and Saturdays, offering freshly brewed beers alongside visiting food traders and events. The brewery remains passionate about collaborating with fellow independent brewers, sharing ideas and exploring new styles while maintaining the quality of its original beers. More than a decade after opening, Eight Arch continues to celebrate Dorset's brewing heritage through an inventive and award-winning range.
