Great Corby Brewhouse is an independent Cumbrian brewery established in 2009 in the village of Great Corby. Brewing in small batches and producing an entirely gluten-free range, it operates from a former honey factory close to its original home at The Forge, which now houses its 1833 taproom and brewery shop.
Brewery story
Great Corby Brewhouse began brewing in 2009 on a site whose history stretches back to 1833. The brewery was originally based at The Forge beside the village green before production moved across the green to a larger sandstone building, formerly used as a honey factory, giving the business more space for its brewing operation and offices.
Locally owned since 2020, Great Corby remains independent and focuses on small-batch beer, with its range now entirely gluten free. In 2024, an additional two-barrel brewing plant was installed to give the brewery greater flexibility for one-off beers and specials alongside its established range.
In 2026, Great Corby opened 1833 at The Forge, bringing its original brewing site back into use as a taproom and brewery shop. Located around 50 yards from the current brewery, it serves a changing beer on draught each week alongside bottled beer to drink onsite or take home.
