Fell Brewery is an independent brewery founded in South Cumbria in 2013. Based in Flookburgh, Fell produces a broad range of beers inspired by brewing traditions from Britain and further afield, with a focus on bringing great beer home to Cumbria. Alongside its brewery, Fell operates a growing collection of bars across Cumbria and Greater Manchester.
Brewery story
Fell Brewery was founded in South Cumbria in 2013 by friends Tim Bloomer and Andrew Carter. The brewery grew from a shared enthusiasm for beer, with early inspiration coming from homebrewing and their experiences of beer and brewing culture in places including the United States and Belgium.
The brewery established its home at Moor Lane in Flookburgh, close to the southern edge of the Lake District. From there, Fell developed its brewing operation and a range influenced by both traditional and contemporary approaches to beer, ultimately growing production to a 15-barrel capacity.
Fell describes its approach simply as brewing beers that its own team wants to drink. Rather than restricting itself to a single style or tradition, the brewery looks to the past, present and future for inspiration, with the broader goal of bringing great beer home to Cumbria.
In 2017 Fell expanded beyond brewing by opening bars in Kendal and Penrith. These gave the brewery dedicated places to express its approach to beer, combining Fell's own releases with carefully selected beers and drinks from other independent producers.
The brewery expanded into Greater Manchester in 2020 with Fell Chorlton, transforming a former clothes shop on Wilbraham Road into its third bar. At the end of 2024, Fell opened its first Manchester city-centre venue in the Northern Quarter, offering an expanded beer range alongside a substantial collection of cider and whisky.
Fell continued that expansion in 2025 with the opening of Fell Stockport, extending its Greater Manchester presence with another community-focused bar. Together, the venues provide dedicated outlets for Fell beer while retaining their own individual character and connection to their local neighbourhoods.
Despite its growing collection of bars, Fell remains rooted in South Cumbria and continues to brew from Flookburgh. The brewery combines its independent approach to beer with a connection to the landscape and communities of the region, while its brewing operation is supported by solar power as part of efforts to reduce its environmental impact.

Taproom 1
Kendal, Cumbria
Fell Kendal is a three-floor town-centre bar with a relaxed, locals-style atmosphere. Its 8 keg and 4 cask lines pour Fell beers alongside a seasonal selection from guest breweries, complemented by spirits, natural wines, soft drinks and low and no-alcohol options. Cans are also available to take away, and the bar welcomes dogs.
Taproom 2
King Street, Penrith, Cumbria
Fell Penrith is the brewery's northernmost bar, situated on King Street just off Penrith's main square. Spread across two floors, it has 8 keg and 6 cask lines serving Fell and guest beers, alongside spirits, natural wines, soft drinks and snacks. The bar also hosts live music and a regular pub quiz.
Taproom 3
Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester
Fell Chorlton brought the brewery's bar concept to Greater Manchester in 2020. Located on Wilbraham Road, it has 12 keg and 4 cask lines pouring Fell beers and guest releases, together with spirits, natural wines, soft drinks and snacks from independent producers. A small number of outdoor tables provide space for drinking outside.
Taproom 4
Dale Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester
Fell Northern Quarter is the brewery's first Manchester city-centre taproom. Opened in late 2024 on Dale Street, it serves an expanded selection of Fell beers alongside carefully chosen guest lines. The bar also specialises in fine and rare beer, cider and whisky, with more than 50 ciders and 50 whiskies available alongside cans to take away.

Stockport, Greater Manchester
Fell Stockport opened in 2025 as the brewery's newest Greater Manchester venue. The community-focused bar offers a rotating selection of fresh Fell beers alongside guest breweries from across the UK, with regular events and a relaxed atmosphere designed for everything from a quick pint to a longer evening.
