Glasgow craft brewery established in 2018 and known for hop-forward, flavour-led beers, particularly hazy New England-style IPAs alongside pale ales, stouts and fruited sours. Following the liquidation of the original company in 2026, the Overtone brewery and brand were acquired and brewing has resumed at its Halley Street home.
Brewery story
Overtone was established in Glasgow in 2018, developing a reputation for bold, hop-forward beer and colourful can artwork. New England-style hazy IPAs became a particular speciality, alongside pale ales, imperial stouts and fruit-driven sours, with an evolving range that favoured experimentation over a fixed core line-up.
Music has always been part of Overtone's identity, from its name and sound-inspired branding to the artwork surrounding its releases. That creative approach helped the brewery build a following well beyond Glasgow, while its focus remained on flavourful, modern craft beer produced at its brewery in Yoker.
The original Overtone Brewing Ltd ran into financial difficulty in early 2026 and entered liquidation. The brewery ceased trading under that company, but the story did not end there: its business and assets were acquired by Glasgow-based Inn House Brewery Company, preserving the Overtone name and brewing operation.
Overtone subsequently returned to production at its original Halley Street brewery. The revived business now operates as Playlist Brewing Ltd trading as Overtone Brewing, with fresh batches once again being produced and sold under the Overtone name. It marks a new chapter for a Glasgow brewery that established a strong following for expressive, hop-led beer.
