Brewery story
Pomona Island Brew Co. was founded in Salford, Greater Manchester, in 2017. Located close to MediaCityUK, the independent brewery was established with a focus on producing modern, flavour-forward beers using high-quality ingredients and a willingness to experiment with new recipes, hop varieties and brewing techniques.
The brewery quickly earned a reputation for its ever-changing lineup of hop-forward pale ales, IPAs, rich stouts and seasonal specials. With James Dyer, formerly of Tempest Brewing Co., leading the brewhouse, Pomona Island combines contemporary brewing methods with a relentless focus on quality and drinkability.
As the brewery has grown, Pomona Island has continued to expand its presence across Greater Manchester. In 2021, it opened a brewery tap at Escape to Freight Island, giving drinkers the opportunity to enjoy its latest releases fresh from the source while the brewery continues to supply pubs, bottle shops and craft beer fans across the UK.

North Westward Ho is Pomona Island's flagship pub in Manchester city centre, pouring the brewery's freshest releases alongside barrel-aged specials and beers from guest breweries. The drinks selection extends to German lager, British cider, mixed-fermentation beer, Belgian ales, natural wine, Italian spritzes, cocktails, vermouth and amaro, making it a showcase for both Pomona Island and the wider drinks world.

The Gas Lamp is Pomona Island's original Manchester venue, opened by Nick and Ryan in 2010 before the brewery itself was established. Hidden below street level on Bridge Street, the atmospheric drinking den serves Pomona Island beers alongside a rotating selection from guest breweries, with an extensive collection of gin and single malt whisky completing the bar.

The Creameries is Pomona Island's neighbourhood cafe bar in Chorlton, combining the brewery's beer with food, coffee, wine and cocktails. Sixteen keg lines feature the latest Pomona Island releases, while the kitchen serves food made from scratch using modern European influences, including house-cured bacon, sandwiches and cakes baked on site. The venue also serves speciality coffee throughout the day.

Pray Tell is a neighbourhood bar in Sale created by hospitality duo Beth and Rooney and closely associated with Pomona Island.
