Independent Newcastle craft brewery established in Morpeth in 2012 and relocated to Benfield Business Park in 2018. Operating a 20-barrel brewhouse, Anarchy produces traditional cask ales, session beers and experimental craft releases, alongside collaborations with breweries from the UK and overseas. Its onsite taproom doubles as a popular live music and events venue.
Brewery story
Anarchy Brew Co. was founded in 2012 in Morpeth, Northumberland, with a determination to produce distinctive beers that combined traditional brewing with the creativity of the emerging craft beer movement. From the beginning, the brewery embraced a broad range of styles, developing approachable session beers alongside more adventurous seasonal releases. Its willingness to experiment and collaborate with other brewers helped establish Anarchy as a recognisable name in the North East's independent beer scene.
In 2018, Anarchy relocated to larger premises at Benfield Business Park in Newcastle upon Tyne, just a couple of miles from the city centre. The move provided space for a 20-barrel brewing operation and a dedicated taproom and events venue. With a team drawn largely from the local hospitality industry, the brewery developed a distinctive combination of beer production and customer-facing experiences, bringing drinkers closer to the place where their beer is made.
Anarchy's brewing philosophy is built around variety. Its range spans traditional British cask ales, easy-drinking session beers and contemporary craft styles, complemented by one-off releases and collaborations with breweries across the UK and internationally. Rather than specialising in a single style, the team aims to explore new techniques and flavours while continuing to produce familiar, crowd-pleasing beers. This balance between experimentation and tradition remains central to the brewery's identity.
The brewery's taproom has become an important part of its Newcastle operation, opening regularly on Fridays and Saturdays and hosting live music, special events and private functions. Visitors can enjoy freshly brewed Anarchy beers alongside stone-baked pizzas from Rebel Crust, while brewery tours offer an opportunity to explore the brewing process. By combining a working brewery with a lively entertainment space, Anarchy has created a destination that reflects the energy and creativity of the North East's craft beer community.
