Scotland's first cooperative brewery, founded on the Isle of Eigg in 2020, brews sustainably with 100% renewable energy, natural spring water and a commitment to supporting the island's crofting community.
Brewery story
Founded on the Isle of Eigg in 2020, Isle of Eigg Brewery was created to brew adventurous, handcrafted beer for social and environmental good. Community owned and crowdfunded by more than 600 investors, it became Scotland’s first cooperative brewery.
Built with help from the local island community, the brewery runs on renewable energy, using solar panels, battery storage and natural island resources to reduce its impact. Every beer is crafted by hand, from mash-in to labelling.
From IPAs and pilsners to stouts, fruit beers and wild fermentation, Isle of Eigg Brewery celebrates beer in all its possibilities. Rooted in the island, it supports local people, local ideas and a more sustainable future.
