Brewery story
Founded in 2021, Fauna Brewing combines a passion for craft beer with wildlife conservation and environmental responsibility. Initially operating through contract brewing, the West Sussex brewery developed a range of wildlife-inspired beers supporting three conservation charity partners. Its mission is to produce great beer while raising awareness of endangered species and contributing to their protection.
In spring 2022, Fauna found a permanent home at The Old Engine Shed in Arundel, a Victorian building that once housed the generator powering Arundel Castle. Formerly known as Dunlop Stables, the site was transformed into a welcoming taproom, retaining original features including high ceilings and porcelain brickwork. The taproom opened ahead of the brewery, with onsite production beginning in summer 2023. Head brewer Mat oversees brewing, drawing on his passion for beer and appreciation of Sussex brewing traditions.
Fauna produces a varied range of traditional and contemporary beers, including Cheetah Lager, Wild Dog IPA, Chimp Pale Ale and Bushy Tail Best Bitter. Its wildlife-inspired branding reflects the brewery's conservation mission, while collaborations and seasonal releases complement the core range. In 2024, the Arundel taproom expanded with a dedicated pizza kitchen and a handcrafted horseshoe bar. The venue also features a spacious beer garden and a developing wildflower meadow supported by sales of Meadow Maker Golden Ale.
Fauna has since expanded into south London with The Foresters Arms in Forest Hill, a refurbished neighbourhood pub formerly known as All Inn One. Offering 16 draught beers and ciders, a taco kitchen, beer garden and four guest bedrooms, the venue extends Fauna's hospitality beyond Arundel. Together, its brewery taproom and London pub bring people together through independent beer, food and community while supporting the brewery's commitment to wildlife conservation.
