Discover the brewery

Independent microbrewery founded in 2020 in Weston-super-Mare, producing small-batch, all-grain craft beers using British-sourced ingredients. Launched just before the first COVID-19 lockdown, Pinkers Craft built a loyal following through local home deliveries before expanding into pubs and hospitality venues. Its range includes Pinkers IPA and Weston Coast, with three beers winning Gold at the 2023 Taste of the West Awards. The brewery prioritises sustainability through recyclable packaging, carbon-offset electricity and repurposing spent brewing grains.

Brewery story

The story behind Pinkers

Pinkers Craft Brewery was established in 2020 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, with the ambition of producing distinctive, small-batch craft beers using traditional all-grain brewing methods and high-quality ingredients sourced from British suppliers. The brewery launched just days before the first national COVID-19 lockdown, an exceptionally challenging time to establish a new business focused on supplying beer to local pubs and hospitality venues. With bars and restaurants forced to close, the team had to rethink its original plans almost immediately. Rather than postponing the business, Pinkers adapted by selling directly to customers and introducing local home deliveries. This change allowed the brewery to build relationships with beer drinkers across Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset, establishing a loyal customer base during a period when the hospitality industry faced unprecedented disruption.

As restrictions eased and local hospitality venues reopened, Pinkers Craft Brewery expanded beyond its home delivery operation to supply pubs, cafés, restaurants and performance venues throughout the surrounding area. The brewery continued to develop its range of beers, focusing on fresh ingredients, carefully developed recipes and a willingness to explore different flavours and styles. Its brewing philosophy avoids artificial flavourings and places particular emphasis on maintaining quality throughout production. Among its beers are Pinkers IPA, one of the brewery's original releases, and Weston Coast, which has become a recognised part of its range. Producing beer in keg, cask and can allows Pinkers to serve both hospitality businesses and customers purchasing beer to enjoy at home, while retaining the flexibility associated with small-batch production.

The brewery's commitment to quality received recognition in June 2023 when three Pinkers Craft beers were awarded Gold at the Taste of the West Awards, a regional competition celebrating food and drink producers across South West England. These awards marked an important milestone for the young brewery, reflecting the development of its recipes and the support it had received from local customers. Pinkers also became a member of Taste of the West, strengthening its connection with the wider regional food and drink community. Throughout its development, the brewery has continued to focus on producing approachable yet distinctive craft beers, offering different styles and flavour experiences while maintaining the independent character established at its launch.

Environmental responsibility is another important part of Pinkers Craft Brewery's identity. Owner and head brewer Scott has made reducing the brewery's environmental impact a priority, introducing changes to packaging, energy use and the handling of brewing by-products. The brewery moved from bottles to recyclable aluminium cans and uses removable labels, recyclable cardboard boxes and paper packaging tape. Its electricity is carbon offset, while spent barley, grain and oats from brewing are reused as animal feed at a local smallholding or composted rather than discarded. These measures reflect a practical approach to reducing waste within a small independent brewing operation. Today, Pinkers continues to serve customers through local deliveries and hospitality partnerships across Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset, combining creative brewing, regional recognition and a commitment to more sustainable production.
