Brewery story
About Signature Brew
Signature Brew was founded by Tom Bott and Sam McGregor in 2011 with a mission to bring great beer and live music closer together. Beginning as a cuckoo brewing operation, the brewery launched with a collaboration beer for The Rifles at The Troxy in London and quickly established music collaborations as a defining part of its identity, going on to work with artists including Enter Shikari, Frank Turner, Mastodon and many more.
After several years brewing through other producers, crowdfunding helped Signature Brew establish its own brewery in Leyton in 2015, giving the team greater control over production and allowing it to develop a permanent core range. Continued growth led to another move in 2019, when the brewery relocated to a larger home on Blackhorse Lane in Walthamstow, combining a modern production brewery with a live music venue and taproom.
Music remains at the heart of Signature Brew. Alongside core beers including Roadie IPA, Studio Lager, Backstage IPA and Haze Machine, the brewery has created limited releases with an extensive list of artists including The Libertines, alt-J, Hot Chip, IDLES, Mogwai, Flogging Molly, Pearl Jam and The Darkness. Its venues have also hosted intimate performances, festivals and events, turning the brewery itself into part of London's live music scene.
Signature Brew's combination of brewing, music and community has earned significant industry recognition, including becoming the only brewery to win SIBA's Brewery Business of the Year award twice, in 2018 and 2021. From its beginnings as a collaboration project, Signature Brew has grown into an established London brewery whose beers can be found at music venues, festivals, pubs and retailers in the UK and increasingly overseas.
