Historic Northumberland brewery with roots in the 19th century, revived in the 2000s and now brewing from Hawkhill near Alnwick. Its range spans cask, keg, bottles, cans and mini-kegs.
Brewery story
Alnwick Brewery traces its roots to brewing in the town from the mid-1800s, later becoming a limited company in 1890. The original brewery was acquired by Drybroughs in 1978 and eventually closed in 1986.
The Alnwick name was revived in the 2000s by Ian Lindsay, son of the former brewery's last managing director. After investment from local residents, it became part of the Harry Hotspur Group and merged with VIP Brewery Company in 2016, establishing its present home at Hawkhill.
Today the brewery produces a broad range across cask, keg, bottle, can and mini-keg. An onsite bottle shop and taproom opened in 2021, providing a place to drink the beers at the brewery alongside food, live music and other events.
