Brewery story

About The London Beer Factory

Founded in 2014 by brothers Ed and Sim Cotton, London Beer Factory emerged as part of the new wave of independent breweries that helped define South London's modern craft beer scene. From its beginnings in West Norwood, the brewery established a reputation for producing unfiltered and unpasteurised beers that combine drinkability with bold flavour, spanning hop-forward pale ales, crisp lagers, and mixed-fermentation releases.

The brewery is perhaps best known for core beers such as Beyond The Pale and Bright Side, alongside a continual focus on experimentation and innovation. This spirit is most evident in The Barrel Project, its dedicated blendery and taproom on Bermondsey Beer Mile, where wild ales and sour beers are matured in oak barrels before blending and release.

While large-scale production has evolved over time, The Barrel Project remains the heart of the London Beer Factory brand, serving as both a creative centre for brewing and a destination for beer enthusiasts. Today, London Beer Factory continues to be recognised for its contribution to South London's thriving beer culture and its commitment to producing distinctive, characterful beers.
