Nirvana Brewery

Nirvana Brewery was established in East London in 2016 by Becky and her family, driven by a love of beer and the belief that people choosing not to drink alcohol should still be able to enjoy great-tasting beer. It became the first UK brewery dedicated entirely to the development and production of alcohol-free beer.

From its brewery in Leyton, Nirvana has concentrated on developing no and low-alcohol interpretations of established beer styles. Its approach combines traditional craft brewing principles with specialist techniques designed to retain flavour and body while keeping alcohol levels low.

The beers are made around the traditional brewing ingredients of malt, hops, water and yeast. Depending on the style, Nirvana uses precise fermentation control and specially developed yeast strains to keep beers below 0.5% ABV, while its German-style beers use vacuum distillation to gently remove alcohol while retaining delicate flavour compounds.

Sustainability has also become an important part of the brewery's approach. Nirvana works with suppliers focused on environmentally responsible practices, uses locally grown ingredients and renewable energy where possible, and is increasingly championing British-grown hops. The brewery has also achieved certified B Corporation status.

After a decade of specialising in alcohol-free brewing, Nirvana continues to focus exclusively on the no and low-alcohol category, developing different beer styles while maintaining its original aim of producing alcohol-free beer without sacrificing the character and experience associated with traditional beer.
