North Riding Brewery was established in 2015 by Stuart Neilson and Adrian Tonge, producing modern, hop-forward ales using traditional brewing methods. Originally based in East Ayton near Scarborough, the brewery moved to larger premises in Snainton in 2019, allowing it to expand production and distribution across the North of England and Midlands.
Brewery story
North Riding Brewery was founded in 2015 by Stuart Neilson and Adrian Tonge, who met through a shared interest in horse racing. Combining Stuart's brewing experience with Adrian's business background, they established a 10-barrel brewery in East Ayton after Stuart had outgrown the original North Riding brewpub in Scarborough.
In early 2019, the brewery moved to larger premises in the village of Snainton, just outside Scarborough. The move provided greater brewing capacity and room for the business to expand while remaining firmly rooted in North Yorkshire.
Today, North Riding brews several times a week, specialising in hop-forward modern ales while retaining traditional brewing methods. Its beers are distributed across the North of England and the Midlands, with the brewery continuing to develop new ales alongside its established range.
