Ticking Clock is a small brewery founded by Ben Womersley in 2021, beginning in his garage in Dinnington before moving to a former colliery building at Shireoaks near Worksop. Using restored and repurposed brewing equipment, it produces beer across cask, keg and can and operates an onsite taproom.
Brewery story
Ticking Clock began in 2021 in founder and brewer Ben Womersley's garage in Dinnington. What started as a small brewing setup gradually developed into plans for a permanent brewery, combining Ben's interest in brewing with his engineering skills.
In 2023, Ticking Clock moved into a 421-square-metre former pit building at Shireoaks Business Centre near Worksop. Much of the brewery equipment was acquired second-hand from closed breweries, including Tapit in Southampton and Hop Studio, later Another Beer, in York, with Ben restoring and adapting the kit for its new home.
Today, Ticking Clock produces beer across cask, keg and can, combining traditional influences with modern brewing ideas. Its Shireoaks brewery also houses a taproom, open from Thursday to Sunday with events and visiting food trucks.
Brewery run club
Ticking Clock Run Club is a relaxed social running group based at Ticking Clock Taproom in Shireoaks. Open to all abilities, the club offers shorter and longer route options through the local area, with the focus on fresh air, good company and finishing back at the taproom for a well-earned drink.
Social runs offer route options of around 3km and 5km, typically exploring local trails, canal-side paths and the surrounding Shireoaks area. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, with no pressure around pace and no one left behind.

Taproom
The brewery's onsite taproom at Shireoaks Business Centre, serving Ticking Clock beer within its converted former colliery building. Open Thursday to Sunday, the taproom also hosts regular events and visiting food trucks.
