Black Iris Brewery is an independent craft brewery based in Nottingham, producing modern beers inspired by creativity, collaboration and a punk rock spirit. Brewery story
Black Iris Brewery was founded in 2011, beginning life on a six-barrel brewing kit behind the Flowerpot pub in Derby. Demand for its bold, modern beers quickly outgrew the original setup, leading to the installation of a larger ten-barrel brewhouse before the brewery relocated to Nottingham in 2014.
Today, Black Iris calls the historic Shipstone's Brewery site in New Basford home, blending Nottingham's rich brewing heritage with a distinctly modern approach. The brewery has built a reputation for producing hop-forward pale ales, IPAs, stouts and lagers that combine high-quality ingredients with a willingness to experiment.
Known for its striking beer artwork created by Kev Grey and its unmistakable punk rock attitude, Black Iris has become one of Nottingham's best-loved independent breweries. Alongside a constantly evolving range of seasonal and collaboration beers, the brewery regularly hosts lively events and continues to supply pubs, bottle shops and drinkers across the UK.
