Brewery story
Welbeck Abbey Brewery was established in 2011 by General Manager and Brewster Claire Monk on the historic Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire. Based in a heritage barn at the heart of the estate's artisan community, the brewery was created around a straightforward ambition to produce high-quality local beer and provide a dependable service to pubs and other customers.
The brewery has grown steadily since its beginnings and now produces more than 17,000 pints of beer each week. Its ales are brewed using spring water from the Welbeck Estate and a nurtured house yeast, with much of the beer supplied to pubs, restaurants and specialist beer shops within around 35 miles of the brewery.
Sustainability is a guiding principle for Welbeck Abbey Brewery, reflecting its position within an estate with centuries of history and a wider community of specialist food and craft producers. Beer from the brewery sits alongside produce from businesses including the Welbeck Bakehouse and Stichelton Dairy, with bottles also available from the Welbeck Farm Shop.
The working brewery is not ordinarily open to the public, but Welbeck offers pre-booked guided brewery tours as well as more immersive brewday experiences with its production team. These provide an opportunity to explore the brewery and its processes while day-to-day production continues to focus on supplying local pubs, restaurants and specialist retailers.
