Wildcraft Brewery

Wildcraft Brewery began in 2016 when former teacher Mike turned a homebrewing hobby into a new business. Drawing on his background in horticulture and enthusiasm for foraging, he began experimenting with wild and locally sourced ingredients before meeting Mark and taking the step into commercial brewing. The first brewery was created in a converted 900 sq ft barn, with Wildcraft beer appearing on a pub handpull for the first time in October 2016.

The early brewery was built on a limited budget, with much of the operation assembled and adapted by the team themselves. As Wildcraft developed, its use of foraged ingredients, local produce and partnerships with nearby growers became central to its identity. Continued growth eventually led to a move in 2022 to much larger premises at Church Farm in Smallburgh, where malting barley is grown within metres of the brewery.

Wildcraft opened an onsite taproom and café at Smallburgh in 2023, creating a permanent community space around the working brewery. The venue has since hosted events ranging from farmers markets and live music to larger celebrations such as Wildfest, extending the brewery's focus beyond simply producing beer.

The brewery expanded its hospitality offering again in 2025 with Wildcraft Tap in the nearby coastal town of Cromer. Today the Smallburgh brewery, its taprooms and brewery tours provide several ways to experience Wildcraft, while its underlying approach remains centred on independence, local ingredients, sustainability and brewing beer closely connected to its Norfolk surroundings.
