Tartarus Beers is an independent craft brewery based in the Sheepscar area of Leeds, Yorkshire. Known for producing bold small-batch beers inspired by mythology, the brewery creates modern styles including IPAs, stouts, sours and lagers, available in cask, keg and can.
Brewery story
Tartarus Beers launched commercially as a nanobrewery in 2020, brewing small-batch craft beer with a focus on modern styles and mythology-inspired branding. After starting in modest premises in Horsforth, the brewery expanded in 2023, moving into the former North Brewing Co brewery and taproom in Sheepscar, just outside Leeds city centre.
Today, Tartarus brews on a 25-hectolitre brewhouse with 225 hectolitres of fermentation capacity, allowing the team to produce an ever-changing range of beers including hop-forward IPAs, rich stouts, fruited sours and crisp lagers. Its beers are packaged in cask, keg and can, reaching drinkers across Yorkshire, the North of England and increasingly further afield.
The brewery is led by co-founders Jack and Jordan. Jack oversees brewing and production, developing the distinctive recipes that define Tartarus, while Jordan manages the day-to-day operation of the business, including sales, logistics, inventory and customer support. The brewery's striking mythical artwork is created by digital artist Sam, whose colourful illustrations have become a defining part of the Tartarus identity.
